Second on the list is catching some street performers at Convent Garden.
Covent Garden is a district in London on the eastern fringes of the West End, between Charing Cross Road and Drury Lane. Covent Garden is licensed for street entertainment, and performers audition for timetabled slots in a number of venues around the market, including the North Hall, West Piazza, and South Hall Courtyard. The courtyard space is dedicated to classical music only. There are street performances at Covent Garden Market every day of the year, except Christmas Day. Shows run throughout the day and are about 30 minutes in length.

The calm beauty of Camden Passage in Islington.
Tucked behind Upper Street in Islington, Camden Passage is a real treasure trove of cute cafes, independent boutiques, vintage shops – where you’ll find everything from exquisite one-offs to fun party outfits – as well as an antiques market selling furniture, war memorabilia and various bric-a-brac.

Relax in the charming Chelsea Physic Garden.
Tucked away beside the Thames, Chelsea Physic Garden is a celebration of the beauty and importance of plants. This walled Garden was founded in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries for its apprentices to study the medicinal qualities of plants and it became one of the most important centres of botany and plant exchange in the world. Today, as an independent charity the Garden relies on the support of visitors and Friends to help protect and nurture the Garden for future generations.
This tranquil green space is often forgotten by both Londoners and tourists, which is a shame, as it’s utterly charming. A walled space beside the Thames, Chelsea Physic Garden contains around 5,000 edible, useful, medicinal and historic plants.

Check out the impressive Thames Barrier.
Completed in 1982, the Thames Barrier is formed of 10 steel gates which stand five storeys high when raised. The Thames Barrier spans 520 metres across the River Thames near Woolwich, and it protects 125 square kilometres of central London from flooding caused by tidal surges. It has 10 steel gates that can be raised into position across the River Thames. Each main gate weighs 3,300 tonnes.
As well as preventing London from flooding, the Thames Barrier is an awe-inspiring and surprisingly beautiful piece of engineering that’s well worth a visit. Another hidden gem: at low tide, look out for The Diver sculpture.
