Kate Cowhig International Healthcare Recruitment currently have a Director of Nursing position available in Dublin. 


178 bedded hospital that provides Post-Acute, Stroke Rehabilitation, Neuro-rehabilitation and General Rehabilitation services, Day Hospital services, Respite and Residential Care Services to adults


Clinical Nurse leader required to oversee a strong nursing department within an established Dublin hospital. Join a strong supportive management team with clear defined management reporting structure and structured staff training plans. You will have a team of CNM’s , Nursing & Care Staff. The hospital centre has under 200 beds and manages patients on short and long term stays with complex needs and requiring a high level of nursing care & support. The role will be responsible for the clinical services and budget management within the Nursing department.

Core duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of the day to day running of the designated centre approved by HIQA
  • Provide strategic and clinical leadership and direction
  • Develop,maintain and review standards of nursing care
  • Devise and implement programs for evaluating standards of patient care
  • Establish,maintain and review systems and processes for ensuring service user involvement in the planning and delivery of services in the hospital.
  • Act as Complaints Manager for the hospital
  • Work with HR in the selection and appointment of nursing and related staff.
  • Facilitate the development and maintenance of a quality clinical learning environment for nursing students
  • Prepare annual financial estimates of the cost of nursing and related staff
  • Work with the financial controller to ensure expenditure is controlled within budget
  • Support Chief Executive Officer in the day to day management of the hospital
  • Work with the Medical Director to ensure the embedding of strong clinical governance systems which promote high standards of safe patient care.


Hospital is set in 13 acres of grounds with free onsite parking. Situated on the southside of the city with easy access from the southside, northside and city centre. A community district area heavily influenced by sport, with lots of clubs and ideally located with primary and secondary schools.

  • Be registered with NMBI in the General Division
  • Have at least 10 years post registration experience, with 5 years nursing management experience at a minimum of CNM 3 Level
  • Hold a minimum of a level 9(QQI) post graduate qualification in health care or a management related field
  • Have evidence of recent post registration/education learning and development
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of the Health Act (2007) Care and Welfare of residents in designated centres for older persons and reguslations.
  • Show an understanding of the issues and practices within nursing and the wider healthcare sector
  • Have proven experience in facilitating change and demonstrating clinical creditability and strong leadership.
